LOTA Vacuum/Fuel Pressure Tester

1. Connect the vacuum gauge hose
Attach the hose as close to the intake manifold as possible.
On V-type engines with two manifolds, perform the test separately on each side.

2. Start the engine
Allow it to reach normal operating temperature.

3. Adjust the throttle butterfly valve
Open or close slightly until the engine runs evenly.

4. Set the carburetor idle adjustment
Adjust the idle screw so the engine idles smoothly.

5. Observe the vacuum gauge reading
A steady pointer reading between 18 and 21 inHg (inches of mercury) at idle indicates the engine is in good condition

If the needle is unsteady, fluctuating, or below normal, it may point to issues like ignition problems, vacuum leaks, valve troubles, or worn piston rings.
