A Diamond Dresser is a tool used to true (restore shape) and dress (clean/resharpen) the surface of a grinding wheel. Over time, grinding wheels become clogged (loaded with debris) or lose their shape. A diamond dresser uses industrial diamonds—the hardest known abrasive—to shear away the wheel’s outer surface, exposing fresh grit for efficient grinding.
