A slugging wrench is a short, thick wrench designed to be struck with a hammer to generate high torque for loosening or tightening heavy nuts, bolts, or ring nuts.
Often built with very heavy cross-sections and reinforced “box ends” so they can withstand hammer impacts without deforming.
Used in industries like pipelines, flanges, refinery, heavy machinery, where bolts are torqued very high or become stuck/”frozen.
Because the torque is delivered by impact (hammer blows), it is less precise for controlled tightening; more commonly used for breaking loose or initial torqueing under extreme load.
